In 2012 when Angelica Hale was just 4 years old, she was very ill with double pneumonia due to a severe strep pneumonia bacteria infection. Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston put her on ECMO, a life-saving intervention. She developed multiple organ failures, and her kidneys did not recover. Her life became a new regimen of hemodialysis, followed by peritoneal dilution. After 80 straight days in the hospital, from death to recovery, she finally made it home but her life was forever changed. After nearly a year and half of dialysis, Angelica was able to undergo the most significant operation of her life-her kidney transplant. The mother of Angelica was the organ donor. Angelica Hale was able to undergo a kidney transplantation along together with her mother on 13th of September 2013. The operation was carried out at Emory University Hospital, and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston. Angelica Hale, a young teenager from Atlanta, who always dreamed of becoming an actress and a singer she is still working toward that goal.
